LOCAL STATION REVENUES DOWN 7.8% IN 2011


A struggling economy and the lack of any substantial political revenues meant a 7.8% dip in revenues for local TV stations in 2011, says BIA/Kelsey. The total take for the year was $17.9 billion, down from 2010’s $19.4 billion.

BIA/Kelsey predicts that revenues will recover in 2012 and reach $20.3 billion, in part because of political dollars but also due to improved consumer spending and increased digital revenues.
