Local Sales Manager - Milwaukee


WISN-TV and wisn.com, a Hearst Television and ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking an experienced Local Sales Manager. WISN is the #1 television station in the Milwaukee DMA and needs an energized leader with a proven track record of success in multi-platform sales. Must be able to build and maintain client relationships. The ability to support, coach, and inspire our talented staff is a MUST. Leadership ability is essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and implement individual advertiser account strategy including revenue goals.
  • Regularly meet with local sales team, including group and individual meetings, to ensure their professional development and success with stated goals.
  • Lead weekly sales meeting; prepare and lead quarterly/annual sales planning meeting.
  • Consistently evaluate seller performance and provide feedback.
  • Act as primary negotiator for the station on all local business; review key sales proposals in advance to ensure
  • Maintain current knowledge of political advertising regulations.
  • Meet extensively with clients to develop/strengthen business relationships; drive client retention.
  • Support local sellers in sales presentations to multiple points of contact with client/agency personnel.
  • Develop and generate non-traditional revenue; generate digital revenue.
  • Work in partnership with the National Sales Manager and Digital Sales Manager to achieve stated and strategic goals.
  • Maintain current and accurate revenue forecasts by account.
  • Communicate regularly with the General Sales Manager on all aspects of local business.
  • Recruit and develop ‘new talent’.
  • Review and Approve new insertion orders.
  • Prepare and present various reports.
  • Follow and meet all HTV Local Sales Managers standard operating procedures as outlined.

    Requirements:
  • Have a complete mastery of Nielsen ratings and methodology for rating projection and evaluation.
  • Strong formal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of pricing and inventory management principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Proficiency with Wide Orbit, Kantar, and One Domain/WO Media Office a plus.
  • Ability to dissect an advertising RFP; identify key revenue opportunities, and prepare comprehensive and winning response.
  • Ability to prospect, meet with, and close business with new station clients.
  • Possess the skills to manage and supervise others.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable automobile are required. College degree preferred.
